Identify and Prioritize Your Goals
What are your goals? Write them down.  Goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timebound.

If you are in a committed relationship, you and your partner should do this exercise separately. Because we have different value systems and opposites attract, reconciling your goals as a couple is critical to the long-term success of your relationship. Only attorneys get wealthy from divorce, so you both have an interest in having this difficult discussion.

No matter where you are now, at least your top three goals ARE attainable. Your spending must simply reflect them.
