What is financial planning?

Financial planning is a process by which you identify your goals, prioritize and determine how to achieve them.  This involves:
  • Developing a realistic spending plan
  • Protecting our assets, ourselves and our loved ones
  • Eliminating debt
  • Establishing an emergency fund
  • Saving for goals such as a wedding, car, home purchase, etc.
  • Investing for retirement
  • Funding education
  • Transferring our wealth to our survivors
Wealth is built by reducing taxes and fees, minimizing the cost of credit, outpacing inflation and transferring risk to insurers to guard against catastrophic events.

The  Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. has established a formal approach to financial planning. To learn more, click here.
