Align Spending to reflect your Goals

The all-powerful marketing machine often distracts from getting what we really desire. A spending plan prevents us from being led astray.  Managing spending to reflect your values and goals is how you achieve your dreams.

Do you have a minimum of 3-6 months living expenses in an Emergency Fund?

Do you have an appropriate risk protection plan?  Do you have health and disability insurance?  Have you done a life insurance needs analysis?  Are your liability coverages and deductibles appropriate on your homeowners and auto (etc.) policies?  Do you know if you need Long Term Care Insurance?  Do you have wills, powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney and advanced directives?

Are you free of consumer debt? (Non-mortgage or education-related debt.)

Are you putting money aside to fund your goals?

If the answer is NO to any of the above, you may not be on the path to financial security.

All are critical and it can be difficult to prioritize. If no one depends on you financially, health & disability insurance, building emergency reserves and getting rid of debt are most important. But if you have a family, you must have sufficient life insurance.
